  • Moisture Control is the key to Mold Control.
  • Keep the building clean and dry. Dry wet or damp areas within 24-48 hours.
  • Fix leaky plumbing and leaks in the building envelope upon discovering them or as soon as possible.
  • Prevent moisture due to condensation by increasing surface temperature or reducing the moisture level in the air.
  • Keep heating, ventilation, and air conditioning drip pans clean, flowing properly and unobstructed.
  • Vent moisture generating appliances, such as dryers, to the outside.
  • Maintain low indoor humidity, below 50% percent relative humidity. Dehumidify basements and moist areas.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of plumbing, roofing, gutters, down spouts, drain tiles, etc.
  • Don't let foundations stay wet. Provide PROPER drainage and slope the ground away from the foundation.
